About the event
Handel’s Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (“The Triumph of Time and Disillusion”) is a dazzling allegorical oratorio composed in 1707 during his first stay in Rome. In this youthful yet profound masterpiece, the characters Beauty, Pleasure, Time, and Disillusion debate the fleeting nature of earthly delights and the inevitability of truth. Overflowing with virtuosic arias, poignant drama, and radiant melodies, it showcases Handel’s genius in its first flowering—a vibrant blend of Italian passion and Baroque grandeur.
