New Zealand tenor Zachary McCulloch is based in Paris and rapidly building an international reputation for the vocal nobility, colour, and dramatic sensitivity he brings to the Mozart, French, and bel canto repertoires, alongside a flourishing career on the concert platform.

He has appeared with Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opéra national de Bordeaux, Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, Opéra de Toulon, the Festival della Valle d'Itria, State Opera South Australia, and Days Bay Opera, under conductors including Fabio Luisi, Joseph Swensen, and Francesco Angelico, in collaboration with directors such as Nicola Raab, Johannes Reitmeier, Rodula Gaitanou, Julien Duval, and Matthias Goerne.

His signature roles include Tamino in Die Zauberflöte (Orchestre Victor Hugo, Théâtre du Capitole), Nadir in Les Pêcheurs de perles and the title-adjacent role of Gualtiero in Il Pirata (Days Bay Opera), Ferrando in Così fan tutte (Festival Castel Artes), and Conte Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Opéra de Toulon). His work at Théâtre du Capitole has included the 4th Jew in Salome and the 3rd SS Officer in Die Passagierin, a performance singled out by critics for its contribution to the production's "freefall into an unfathomable abyss."

Reviewers have praised his "especially engaging stage presence" and singing of "exquisitely gentle top notes," noting a Mozartian timbre and technique that "carries without heaviness."

An accomplished concert artist, his oratorio and concert repertoire includes Puccini's Messa di Gloria, Handel's The Foundling Hospital Anthem and Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno, Haydn's The Creation and both organ solo Masses, Mozart's Requiem, Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, and Schubert's Mass No. 6.

A semi-finalist at the 2023 Concorso Vincerò in Verona, Zachary is a 2026 competitor at both the Cesti Competition in Innsbruck and the Renata Tebaldi International Singing Competition in San Marino. Upcoming engagements include the Male Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia for Brunswick Vocal Arts in London, covering Steve Wozniak in Theater Aachen's The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor for Days Bay Opera, and a return to Théâtre du Capitole for a reduced-orchestration production of Die Zauberflöte as Tamino.
