Zachary McCulloch

TENOR

Welcome

Welcome to the official website of New Zealand born tenor, Zachary McCulloch.

Tamino, the foreign prince, is sung by New Zealand tenor Zachary McCulloch. He deliberately allows traces of his accent to remain, lending the character added authenticity without ever affecting intelligibility. His timbre and technique are ideally suited to Mozart, and his voice carries without heaviness. On stage, he presents a convincingly naïve and sincere lover.

Pierre Perroche

OLYRIX

2026

“McCulloch has an especially engaging stage presence, depicting the dynamic Nadir as a man meeting life’s adventures…”

“McCulloch decorates his aria with exquisitely gentle top notes”

“…the love scenes between Nadir and Léïla are beautifully done, all with radiant wonder and childlike tenderness…”

Bellini puts huge pressure on the vocal tessitura required for the principal tenor role of Gualtiero...A role abounding with High C's and D's, sung by a rich and velvety voiced discovery for us to hear.

The lyrical and dramatically voiced 'bel-canto' exponent, Zachary McCulloch...most definitely 'nailed it' time after time.
