Zachary McCulloch
New Zealand born tenor Zachary McCulloch has performed in theatres and festivals internationally in Oceania, Europe and North America.
Hailed by critics to sing with “italianate warmth”, Zachary has a ringing, full-bodied, light-lyric tenor voice produced with earnest warmth and colour.
Zachary has appeared in performances for Opera National du Capitole de Toulouse, Festival delle Valle d’Itria, Landestheater Linz, Opera Australia, Adelaide Festival and Victorian Opera. Zachary has performed roles such as Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Flavio (Norma) Oronte (Alcina), Nemorino (L’Elisir d’Amore) and Ferrando (Cosi Fan Tutte).
Zachary has worked with conductors and directors such as: Fabio Luisi, Victorien Vanhoosten, Francesco Lanzillotta, Piero Romano, Nicola Raab, Rita Cosentino, Francois Racine and more.
As an emerging artist, Zachary has been a studio artist at: the 2024 Accademia di Bel Canto ‘Rodolfo Celletti’ in Puglia, Italy; a participant of the 2023 ICAV course in Montreal, where he debuted as Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Boheme; and he was a studio artist in the State Opera of South Australia’s Opera Academy in 2021.
In future seasons Zachary will make stage and role debuts at the Deutsche Oper Berlin (Die Meistersinger) and will return to Theatre du Capitole de Toulouse (Season to be announced).
